About

Mo and Elijah are traveling the world to collect stories of practical hope with which to apply and share in their lives and communities. During this year Elijah will conduct most of the research and planning, and Moriah will continue her journey in freelance grant writing, a way to connect communities to essential resources. Time will reveal their plans when they return.

Elijah won the Watson Fellowship to study community-based ecotourism as a lasting economic possibility for rural communities. Simply put, his research question is this: In a globalized economic world, can small communities financially, socially, and ecologically continue to exist, grow, and thrive? How does small-scale tourism fit into jumpstarting and maintaining such economies?

In a nutshell, his project is to collect stories of practical hope of communal restoration, wilderness preservation, and agricultural regeneration for a world desperately in need.

Moriah and Elijah will work on this blog collectively as they learn from the communities we encounter.
